Socio-economic Well-being for Vulnerable Communities

This project, with long-term BGR partner Rachana, aims to ensure the food security and improve the living conditions in 12 villages of two communes, Chi Khmar and Sanlong at Treang district of Take province, where 1,230 vulnerable and poor families are living under the poverty line. The project consists of three primary elements: (1) education and training of family farmers on sustainable and resilient rice cultivation techniques that will reduce chemical inputs and increase resistance to drought conditions; (2) similarly, education and training of farmers in organic and integrated farming methods for vegetable production to increase resilience to drought and disaster conditions, and reduce chemical inputs; (3) working with educators and primary school and high school students to create a curriculum and provide education in climate change, adaptation and sustainable agricultural life skills, and to create school agricultural gardens to implement these techniques. The overall goal is to ensure food security and improve living conditions for the 1,230 poverty-stricken families of the two communes. New project
