Kenya
Women's Empowerment Program
This project with BGR partner the Grow Biointensive Agriculture Centre of Kenya (G-BIACK) aims to improve the standard of living as well as food and nutrition security for women and children in rural Kiambu and Machakos counties, Kenya. Working in five rural communities, educators from G-BIACK will train poor smallholder women farmers in the Grow Biointensive Agriculture system of environmentally sustainable cultivation. Project goals include improving livelihoods in rural communities, particularly among women and the disadvantaged; raising awareness among women about issues of family health and nutrition; and providing women with needed information and skills to support their families' nutrition. The project will also connect rural women to local organizations, providing them with improved access to markets and new skills in group organizing. The trainings will serve 620 women and their families. Annually renewable project
