Schooling is difficult to come by in Entebbe, Uganda, where many children have lost one or both parents, and families are stressed by poverty and lack of social services. The village where the Peace School is located only has one school that is poorly funded by the local government, and many children live up to 7 kilometers from the nearest primary school. Our partner for this project is Uganda Buddhist Center. In order to meet the need for primary education, the Peace School will begin with 12 students in the youngest class and grow to a full-fledged primary school with 120 students. The children will study the National Curriculum as well as mindfulness, ethics, compassion, wisdom, generosity, also African social values, cultures and hand-crafts. New partner, new project.
